Seeing from God’s point of view

OFTEN IT IS HARD FOR US TO SEE THINGS AS THEY REALLY ARE!

The little boy at the football match just couldn’t see what was happening. He heard the shouts when someone scored a goal, but all he could see everywhere he looked was a forest of grown-ups legs. But when his daddy lifted him up high on his shoulders, well, then he could see just about everything.

Often it is hard for us to see things as they really are, because there is always something in the way. Our own view of ourselves is so often obscured by past failures, or by the names given to us by other people: But God sees everything clearly, like an eagle soaring high above the clouds. He sees round corners, he sees over mountains. He sees both the person we have become, and the person he calls us to be.

Long ago, there was a man named Abram who heard God calling him. Abram longed for a son, although he and his wife Sarai were far too old to have children. Yet God gave him a new name, Abraham, which means Father of Many Nations. God, who made the universe with his words, was seeing something that Abraham could not see at first; something beyond outward appearances and circumstances. It was only when Abraham agreed with the new name God had given him and with all it meant, that his son, Isaac was finally born, and from Isaac came the great nation of Israel. God told Abraham to count the stars of the sky and the sand of the seashore, if he could, and he said, “All these shall be your children.”

But the bible tells us that we, too are Abraham’s children if we believe God’s word just like Abraham did (Galatians 3:7). We begin that journey of faith when we acknowledge Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Through God’s eyes, Jesus his son died on the cross for all the things we have ever done wrong, paying our debt for us, full and free. He left the path clear for you to come home, and begin a new relationship with God as your Father, and you as his much-loved child. Romans 10:17 says, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

If you have not ever taken that simple step, you can take it now. Then the bible becomes a rich storehouse of God’s blessings, as we uncover the wonderful things God says about us, his children. The bible calls us Kings and Priests (Revelation 1:6, 1 Peter 2:9, Isaiah 61:6, Exodus 19:6.) It calls us beloved children of God (1 John 3:2; John 1:12). God gives us a new name, The Righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus took our curse on the cross, that we might inherit the blessing of Abraham (Galatians 3:13) so that we have a right to call ourselves “Blessed.” We have been raised with Christ (Colossians 3:1). This is just the beginning, but see how it has already thrilled your heart.

Why not say this prayer:”Dear Heavenly Father God.  I am sorry for going my own way. I receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I believe he died for me and rose again for me. I believe I have been raised with him, and I thank you that I am your child, a part of the Royal Family of God.

“I thank you that I am a King and Priest. I thank you that I am the Head and not the Tail, above only, and not beneath (Deuteronomy 28:I3).  Thank you that I am a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) and that I am not afraid (2 Timothy 1:7) and that everything I set my hand to will prosper (Deuteronomy 28:8).”
