It’s the fourth year that Caribbean Utilities Company has shown that they care about Cayman and want to give back, by organizing the West Bay 5K, with every dollar of the 15 dollar entrance fee (10 dollars for Children under 17) going to help Sunrise Adult Training Centre, and the Cayman Islands Athletic Association. More than 300 people took part in the race, early on Saturday 6 March, with a great flock of blue T-shirted walkers going first, before the runners began.
The route stretched from Papagallos down Conch Point Road and back again. It was great to see all those people giving their time up to help organize the event, as well as all the participants who got up early to get involved in something positive for their own health and for the community. The first male runner over the line was Dominic Dyer, 21, who has been winning quite a lot of local races recently. The first female runner was Olivier Shanks. Kenrick Webster was the first walker over the line.
